Mike and Christina Benevento
Mike and Christina Benevento are the husband and wife team behind EarthModern. They live and work at the base of the Shawangunk Cliffs in the Hudson Valley with their two children and two dogs. After building custom furniture for years, Mike became inspired by the cliffs and ridges he hikes, bikes, and climbs and he began focusing his work on using stone and rock as the focal pieces of his furniture designs. Each piece of wood and stone is hand selected by Mike, each grain pattern and shape and texture highlighted in the design and crafting of the furniture. Both Mike and Christina were drawn to designing and creating custom furniture pieces because of their passion for furniture design, and even more so, because of their desire to work with people to bring beauty, quality, and function to their spaces
When they are not dreaming up and creating custom furniture, Mike and Christina enjoy getting outside to be inspired by hiking, mountain biking, and creating and maintaining hiking paths through the woods.

EarthModern’s home is at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains, a ridge of bedrock that continues for 50 miles and is surrounded by thousands of acres of protected land containing gorgeous trails, lakes, and streams. Nearly every aspect of our lives is informed and influenced by this natural beauty. It serves as inspiration for our designs, as the backdrop to valuable family time spent together outdoors, and as the thing that grounds and centers us when life is chaotic or stressful. We are passionate about protecting the environment, preserving open spaces, and giving others the opportunity to learn about and immerse themselves in nature.
This is why we made the commitment to donate 10% of our profits to charities that protect the earth, preserve open spaces, and help to connect children with the outdoors.
